Poultry — like this clucking chicken — and rabbits were judged Wednesday at the Carter County Free Fair, and all indoor exhibits were judged and open for viewing. Fair opening ceremonies were conducted at 6:30 p.m. and free watermelon was offered by the Carter County commissioners.

Today’s schedule:

9 a.m. — Sheep judging

9 a.m. — Craft and business vendors open

9:30 a.m. — HCE children’s program

10 a.m. — Exhibits open for viewing

11:30 a.m. — Swine judging

12:30 p.m. — Dairy and pygmy goat judging

1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. — HCE children’s program

3 p.m. — Meat goat judging

5 p.m. — Midway opens

6 p.m. — Heifer and steer judging

7 p.m. — Live entertainment outside

7 p.m. — Carter County Jackpot Roping in the outdoor arena

9 p.m. — Craft and business vendors close

11 p.m. — Midway closes
