Ardmore, OK —

Drivers were admitted to hospitals in Sulphur and Durant as the result of single-vehicle crashes during the weekend. Neither driver was critically injured.

Jeremy Courtney, 23, Sulphur, was transported by private vehicle to Arbuckle Memorial Hospital following an ATV rollover on a county road when he failed to negotiate a curve about 5 a.m. Monday. Highway Patrolman Daniel Arms said Courtney was driving west on a county road 8 miles northwest of Sulphur when the four-wheeler ran off the road and overturned.

Courtney was admitted to the hospital in fair condition with head and internal injuries.
Jason Stadum, 40, Kingston, was admitted to a Durant hospital on Saturday following a pickup crash 3.5 miles southeast of Kingston on State Highway 70A. He was listed in stable condition with internal and leg injuries after being pinned in the wreckage.

Trooper Josh O’Steen said Stadum was driving north when his vehicle crossed the center line. The driver overcorrected, ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. He was pinned in the vehicle about 15 minutes before being extricated by Texoma VFD firefighters. The victim was taken to Southeast Oklahoma Medical Center in Durant. The crash was reported about 10 p.m.

Investigating troopers said alcohol was a factor in both incidents. Trooper Arms also cited unsafe speed in the four-wheeler crash. The driver was not wearing a helmet. Trooper O’Steen said Stadum was not using a seatbelt.
