Turf and Landscape Maintenance Shortcourse Slated

Although much of Oklahoma’s land­scape has been cov­ered by snow the last sever­al weeks, the spring season for turf and landscape profes­sionals is just around the corner. Oklahoma State University and the Okla­homa Cooperative Exten­sion Service is hosting an annual, 1-day introductory level turfgrass and land­scape maintenance work­shop to emphasize sound, research-based fundamen­tals of turf and landscape management for Oklaho­ma climate and soils. The shortcourse will be held in Durant, Oklahoma on February 19 at the Bryan County Fairgrounds. The fairgrounds are located at 1901 S. 9th St.


This is an opportunity to gain valuable knowl­edge and improve your professional skills. This program has been submit­ted for Continuing Edu­cation Units in Category 3a, Outdoor Ornamentals & Turf, and Category 10 Research & Demonstra­tion. Targeted audiences include commercial pes­ticide applicators, profes­sional landscapers, city/ state parks and recreation personnel, school athletic turf managers, golf course grounds crews, sod farm­ers, commercial grounds keepers, and any other professionals or horticul­tural enthusiasts. Topics include:

The cost is $35 per person and includes conference proceedings, lunch, refreshments, door prizes and a grand­prize drawing for a Herd Sure-Feed Broadcaster ($400 value) that is handy for broadcasting seed or fire ant bait over larger areas. Please register or RSVP by Friday. Those interested in participating are asked to pre­register by calling Heidi Hicks at (580) 924-5312. Pre-registration is to help ensure accuracy for the lunch that will be provided.
