Carter County Master Gardeners had their October meeting at the home of Jack and Betty Sue Tow. Business was suspended for the evening in order to enjoy a wiener roast and tour Jack and Betty Sue’s beautiful home and gardens.
It is absolutely amazing how much they have accomplished in less than four years since they built their house near Marietta. Mary Jo Mangham presented a demonstration and hands-on workshop on fall decorations. Everyone participated in making an original creation which they took home with them.
The variety of beautiful things created from natural and silk materials was impressive. Jack Tow, Mark Davis and Wayne Spivey roasted hot dogs for everyone over the built-in fire pit located next to the patio and a water feature.
Cathy Kasson provided awesome homemade cookies and zucchini relish made from zucchini grown in her garden. Rita Edman brought honeysuckle shrubs dug from her yard to share with everyone. The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Garden Center where Sandy Alexander will present a program on butterflies. We welcome guests at our meetings.
