Emily Kaitz comes to Davis to perform at an Americana Unplugged concert benefiting Davis Boy Scout Troop 67 at 7 p.m. on Thursday in the La Ville Inn at 223 E. Main St.
Kaitz, a hilariously twisted Fayetteville, Ark., resident since 1998, cut her musical teeth in the vibrant club scene of Austin, Texas, and has recorded six albums of her own songs, which she published under her own label, Pingleblobber Music.
Emily’s songs are eccentric, intelligent and strangely humorous.
A lyrically frank and satirical musician, Kaitz writes of intimate and humorous scenarios — no matter how hilarious — she covers everything from yuppies to jay walking. Several artists, including Chet Atkins, have recorded her songs.
The entire $10 cover charge pays the artists while $14 in matching funds is pledged by sponsors for the Davis Boy Scout Troop 67.
“The objective of the Boy Scout program is to help instill character, personal fitness and good citizenship in young men,” Troop 67 Scoutmaster Hugh Killblane said.
The LeBrue Coffeshop at the LaVille Inn will offer attendees a variety of hot sandwiches, homemade soup, salads, freshly baked muffins and cookies, and plenty of hot and cold coffee drinks, teas and other beverages.
Since October 2006, Americana Unplugged concerts have raised more than $13,000 in pledges and contributions for local causes.
