Murder case continues despite stall attempt

A defense move, aimed at derailing preliminary hearing for a Lone Grove man charged with the 2007 murder of his mother, delayed proceedings Wednesday, but the case remains on the judicial track and headed for trial.

Water boil order lifted

After $1,000 in repairs, the water is safe to drink again.

As of July 1, Leon’s Rural Water District No. 1 lifted the boil order issued on June 26.

With regards to external parasites, grubs, lice and ticks often get our attention but it is not uncommon for us to ignore or diminish the problems of biting flies. Nuisance flies, such as house flies and face flies, can affect cattle to a lesser degree, but horn flies in sufficient populations can significantly reduce animal performance and economic thresholds may vary greatly depending on the body condition of the cattle and other stresses they may be exposed to at any give time.

A Mid­west City woman was transported to a Dal­las hospital after she wrecked her 2005 Cadil­lac near Kingston early Friday evening.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Rodney Davis’ report indicated Melissa Kay Pietrowicz, 24, was driving north­bound on State High­way 70B when she ran off the road, hit a ditch and overturned, strik­ing a telephone equip­ment box, a fence and a tree.

Oklahoma residents affected by the April wild­fires can speed disaster as­sistance by understanding and preparing for on- site property inspections that determine eligibility, state and federal emergency managers said Friday.

Oklahoma Department of Emergency Manage­ment and Federal Emer­gency Management Agen­cy officials said that the first step in getting help is to register with FEMA.
