OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma National Guard's Office of Public Affairs invites all local media to attend the departure ceremony of the 137th Special Operations Wing (SOW), Will Rogers Air National Guard Base (WRANGB), as they deploy in support of military operations in Southwest Asia.

The event is Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 6:15 p.m. at Will Rogers Air National Guard Base, Oklahoma City. Media are asked to arrive no later than 5:45 p.m. The base is located at 5624 Air Guard Drive in Oklahoma City just west of Will Rogers World Airport, off of SW 54th Street.

Approximately 30 Airmen from several units across the base will be saying goodbye to family, friends and fellow Airmen before leaving for a 6-month deployment to Southwest Asia in support of Operation Freedom's Sentinel.

Operation Freedom's Sentinel is the United States military mission following the official end of Operation Enduring Freedom and combat operations in Afghanistan. The deployed Airmen from WRANGB will conduct missions to support the continued security of the region.

They are a part of the nearly 140 Airmen from WRANGB who are deploying or have deployed recently to various locations in Southwest Asia. This is the first major deployment for the Wing as the newest member of Air Force Special Operations Command.
