STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State wrestling team received the top spot in both the dual and tournament team preseason rankings, released Tuesday by InterMat. Nine Cowboys earned individual rankings with eight projected as All-Americans.

Returning 2016 NCAA Champion Dean Heil is set to begin the season at No. 1 at 141 pounds after a 32-1 sophomore campaign that saw the Brunswick, Ohio, native hold the top ranking throughout the season. Other Cowboys projected as All-Americans include Kaid Brock (6th, 133 pounds), Anthony Collica (4th, 149 pounds), Joe Smith, (3rd, 157 pounds), Chandler Rogers (5th, 165 pounds), Kyle Crutchmer (6th, 174 pounds), Nolan Boyd (5th, 184 pounds) and Preston Weigel (7th, 197 pounds).

Iowa (94.5), Ohio State (93.5), Penn State (86.5) and Missouri (84) round out the top five of the preseason tournament rankings with Iowa, Missouri, Penn State and Ohio State, respectively as the top five in the dual meet poll.

The announcement marks the second preseason No. 1 ranking for the Cowboys so far this year. Last month, OSU was named the preseason top-ranked team in the country by WIN Magazine.

The Cowboys are coming off a second-place finish at the NCAA Championships in 2016, where six Pokes earned All-American honors, with Heil and former Cowboy Alex Dieringer picking up individual championships. Oklahoma State enters the 2016-17 season in search of its 35th team title.

The Cowboys open the upcoming dual season on Nov. 6 when they travel to Miami, Okla., to faceoff with Bucknell.
