Long time Ardmore resident, Edward G. Whitchurch passed from this life at Mercy Hospital Jan. 5, 2017. He was born in Ardmore on Nov. 30, 1950, to parents James and Juanita Whitchurch who preceded him in death.
He is survived by one sister, Ann Whitchurch of Ardmore and many special life-long friends.
Ed was a member of the Ardmore High School class of 1969. He earned his undergraduate degree in aviation and a Master’s of Administrative Studies degree, both from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. His passion was aviation and he was fortunate enough to spend many years working as a pilot. Upon returning to Ardmore, Ed worked for several companies, with the most recent being for the Oklahoma Blood Institute where he felt his work helped others and he made a difference in their lives. Ed was a member of St. Philips Episcopal Church in Ardmore. He later attended St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Gainesville, Texas. At St. Philips, he served for many years as the Acolyte Master. Ed was a quiet unassuming person who quietly performed many anonymous acts of kindness for many people. He was loved and will be missed.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12 at St. Philips Episcopal Church, Ardmore.
In lieu of flowers, please remember Oak Hall Episcopal School or the Bourland Scholarship Fund at St. Philips Episcopal Church.
