Services for Ima Fern Keith, 86, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, in the Harvey-Douglas Centennial Chapel with Carl Hill officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.

A time of visitation and support for the family will be from 5:30 until 7 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.

Fern was born Nov. 29, 1930, at Ardmore, the daughter of the late Odis Andrew and Ruby Irene Gothard Deatherage. She passed away Feb. 2, 2017, in a local nursing facility.

A lifelong resident of the area, Fern graduated from Springer High School. She married Elmer Keith on Jan. 3, 1948, in Gainesville, Texas, and he preceded her in death April 15, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Billie Hill, Joyce McDowell and Mildred Crossley.

She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as an operator and retired after 30 years of dedicated service. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Fern was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church for many years and had joined and attended the Wilson Methodist Church the past few years.

Fern is survived by her sister, Louise Elmore, and a host of nieces and nephews that she was like a mother and best friend to.

Serving as bearers will be Mike, Jon, Scott and Tim Burkhart, and Sam and Gary Elmore.
