The 25-year-old Moore man, and his 19-year-old Oklahoma City companion, accused of delivering an undercover drug agent’s telephone order for heroin made their initial appearances in Carter County District Court Friday.
John Deloera and Darian Geist appeared before Special District Judge Carson Brooks. The twosome face charges of trafficking in illegal drugs. Brooks set Deloera’s bond at $250,000 and set a $100,000 bond on the charge against Geist.
Deloera and Geist were apprehended about 2:30 a.m. Thursday in the 2400 block of Cooper Drive in an undercover operation conducted by OBN, Carter County Sheriff’s Department and Ardmore Police Department.
“We ordered up heroin from Oklahoma City. The two subjects brought it down. When they arrived a traffic stop was conducted. A K-9 alerted and searched the car. An estimated 17-grams of heroin was found,” said Bryant Knox, OBN Agent-in-Charge, Ardmore.
Knox said at the time the drug delivery case was unusual for the area. “Heroin is not commonly found in this area,” he explained.
Pointing to the success of the undercover operation, Carter County Sheriff Chris Bryant said he is delighted with the results, of a new cooperative effort between the CCSD, OBN and APD. Shortly after taking office Bryant pledged to rectify what had been a disconnect between the sheriff’s department and other area law enforcement agencies.
Bryant said he was renewing the cooperative effort with agencies like the APD and OBN in order to provide more efficient and comprehensive service to the citizens of the county.
“Slowly but surely we are regaining what had been lost. We are all working well together. We are assisting each other in endeavors, like this one, and gaining on areas that had been stagnant due to uninvolvement and noncooperation. We are not just showing a united front, we are a united front,” Bryant said.
Deloera and Geist both remain detained in the Carter County Detention Center pending the posting of bond and/or the outcome of their cases. Case conferences for the pair are scheduled for April 20. Currently there are no attorneys of record for either defendant.
