MARIETTA — Services for John Derick Dvorak of Marietta, are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2017, in Marietta’s First Baptist Church with Pastor Shane Norton officiating. Interment at Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, will follow under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Marietta.
The son of Bill G. Dvorak and Betty Sue Simmons Dvorak, Derick was born in Ardmore, on Nov. 8, 1960. He passed away Sunday, June 11, near Ardmore at the age of 56.
A resident of Love County most of his life, Derick attended Marietta Schools. He was an over-the-road truck driver for a number of years and most recently had been an employee of Jimmy Evans Construction. His hobbies included weightlifting and riding his motorcycle. Derick loved being with his family, especially his nieces and nephews who were so very important to him. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marietta.
Derick was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Cora Dvorak and Johnie and Vida Ruth Simmons.
Survivors include his parents, Bill and Betty Dvorak of Marietta; brother, Lance Dvorak of Ardmore; two sisters, Kim Ritchey and husband, Wendall of Ardmore and Sally Bridges and husband, Gary of Amarillo, Texas; and nieces and nephews, Amy, Will, Rebecca, Roger, Eric and Preston.
Serving as casket bearers will be Bud Barnes, Paul Riley, Joe Martin, Carl Gragg, Reid Schnorrenberg and David Wayne Jacobs. Honorary bearers are deacons of Marietta’s First Baptist Church and Mark Bond.
Time of visitation for family and friends will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.
