MARIETTA — Memorial graveside services for Mary Carole Parker, 80, of Ardmore, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017, in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, with the Rev. Tom Riley officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Marietta.
Mrs. Parker was born Oct. 5, 1936, in Gainesville, Texas, the daughter of Alton F. “Shivers” Hicks and Oleta Malone Hicks. She passed away Saturday, June 10, in the Wilson Nursing Center, Wilson, Okla.
A resident of Ardmore most of her life, Carole and Ronald G. Parker were married in Marietta on Aug. 9, 1957. Carole graduated from Marietta High School, attended Gulf Park College for Women in Gulfport, Miss., and received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1961. She then taught English, Drama and Speech at Marietta High School and Ardmore High School. Carole was an Alpha Chi Omega Alumnae and also involved in many community activities including actress and director of the Ardmore Little Theatre, Bluebird leader, the Mental Health Association, the American Heart Association, the Cerebral Palsy Foundation as well as member and president of the Bayliss PTA. She was also a member of the First Christian Church in Marietta.
Preceding her in death were her parents; grandparents, T.A. and Stella Malone and Will and Maude Hicks; and brother, Tim Hicks.
She is survived by her husband, Ron of the home; two daughters, Jana Parker Robertson and husband, Tommy of Lewisville, Texas and Sally Parker and husband, Henry Muirhead of Lavon, Texas; niece, Holly Hicks Black and husband, Tyler of Ft. Hood, Texas; nephews, Todd Hicks and wife, Shelly of the Eastman community and Toby Hicks of Liberal, Kan.; and granddaughters, Robin Robertson Clark and husband, Kevin of Little Elm, Texas and Christin Fankhauser and husband, Caleb of Homer, Alaska.
