The Ardmore Cardinals of the American Legion Baseball league have been in action the last two weekends in Lawton and Fort Smith, Arkansas, with each tournament bringing with it success on multiple ends.

During the first weekend of June, the Cardinals traveled to Lawton, where they opened with a 5-1 victory over the Titans. Madill’s own Raygan Dodd sparked the fourth inning with a triple, before Lone Grove’s Garrett Lemons registered an RBI later in the inning.

The second game proved to be rough for Thackerville’s Ethan Wilson, as he took the loss on the mound in an 11-3 defeat to the SW Shockers. Dodd hit a two-RBI double which scored Marietta’s own Jonathan Escobedo and Travis Loudermilk.

Dodd would take the loss in game three of the Lawton tournament against the Ambassadors (6-3). Ironically it was Dodd’s Wildcat teammate Jake McHatton who came on in relief in the contest, allowing just one run in six innings. Tushka’s own Mason Brinkley and Rock Creek’s Christian McGowan provided the offense in the contest for the Cardinals.

The Cardinals finished the tournament with a 7-2 victory over the OKC Reds.

Dodd hit a two-run home run in the third inning to help spark the Cardinals, while Healdton’s Zac Benton scored in the sixth inning, where the Cardinals tallied three runs.

Last weekend in the opener at Fort Smith, the Cardinals dropped a 6-3 loss to the Fort Smith team.

Lemons registered a two-RBI single in the first inning, before Dickson’s own Justin Rutledge registered a sacrifice fly RBI to score Dodd later in the inning.

Wilson came in for relief on the mound in the third inning for the Cardinals.

The second game at Fort Smith was a run-rule victory over Russellville 11-3.

Lemons went 3-for-4 at the plate with a pair of RBI’s and three runs scored. Sulphur’s Dawson Muck finished with a pair of hits in the game. Zach Dill got the win on the mound. Dodd finished the game going 2-for-2 with three RBI and four runs scored.

A 6-1 victory over Panama put the Cardinals in the third place game of the tournament.

Madill’s own Tanner Barnes registered an RBI single in the game, with Lone Grove’s own Casen Presgrove hitting a two-RBI single in the game as well. Lemons also scored in the contest.

A 17-9 victory over Three Rivers was earned in the third place game with McHatton getting the win on the mound, throwing five innings of work. As a team the Cardinals finished with 17 runs on 16 hits.

Rutledge hit a three-RBI double in the first inning to help spark the Cardinals.

The Ardmore Cardinals were scheduled to be in action this weekend at Chickasha.

On June 22 and 23 the Cardinals will be taking part in the Ardmore Festival from Madill High School with games taking place at 6 and 8:15 p.m. both nights.
