Funeral services for Major Randall Lee “Randy” Wilson, 60, will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Salvation Army Chapel with Colonel Mark Bell officiating. Cremation With Care will follow provided by Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home & Crematory.
The son of the late Leo Wesley Wilson and Barbara (Henthorn) Wilson, Randy was born on Aug. 11, 1956, in Weirton, W.V., and passed away on June 20, 2017, at Faith Presbyterian Hospice facility.
A resident of Ardmore the past seven years, Randy moved here from Atlanta. Growing up in Weirton, W.V., and graduated from high school there, Randy then attended Seminary School and received a degree in Theology. He and the former Barbara Upchurch were married June 11, 1977, in Durham, N.C., and had just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. Major Wilson gave his life to serve others through The Salvation Army. Along side his wife, they served for 30 years answering God’s call to reach out to everyone with love and compassion. They served in many communities in the United States and as missionaries in Papua New Guinea and St. Martin. Randy enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family. He had been active with the Mason Lodge and was a former member of the Ardmore Rotary Club.
Survivors include his loving wife of 40 years, Barbara Wilson; son, Wesley Wilson and wife, Kylie; daughters, Tara Kirina and husband, Budoa and Anna Wilson; sister, Beverly Garblik; and nine grandchildren, Ethan, Hannah, Stella and Christian Wilson, Allison, Bethany, Savannah, Nathaniel and Lilly Kirina.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. this evening at the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
