With July heating up temperature wise, the play on the local golf courses has been just as competitive.

Recently, Dornick Hills Country Club hosted its Men’s Member/Guest tournament, while Lakeview hosted its club championship, as well as the More Foundation fundraiser event.

At Dornick Hills, Dillon Jordan and Ross Gilbert won the overall team title, with the duo of David and Doyle Groves coming in second overall. 

Ryan Hobbs and Ross Parmley took third overall.

Jordan and Gilbert won the left flight division, with David and Doyle Groves second, with Hobbs and Parmley third.

In the right flight division, Justin Arledge and Brian Williams won with Mark Wilson and Stacy Reed coming in second. Marc Peters and Tanner Dupree took third in the flight.

Ross Parmley was the closest to the pin on hole No. 2, while Nick Faustner was closest to the pin on the fourth hole. Drew Beard won the award on the eighth hole, with Joe Ward the closest to the pin on the 17th hole. 

Meanwhile at Lakeview Golf Course, Plainview Indians golf standout Tyler Neher kept up his busy summer schedule, winning the championship flight of the club championships with a 139 total. 

His PHS teammate Saxon Ross shot a 150 for the tournament in the same flight.

Joe Ray claimed second in the division with a 148 overall, with Nate Hobein third at 149.

In the Presidents Flight, Darren Barnes won with a 150, just ahead of second placed Derrick Coleman with a 151. Eddie Muncrief, Ty Williams, and Derik Johnston all tied for third overall with a 152, with Johnston winning in a playoff to claim third.

Dusty McNeil won the Vice Presidents flight with a 153, one stroke ahead of Brian Bishop at 154. Steve Sanchez was third in the division with a 156.

Mike Coffman won the Sr. Championship with a 142, followed by Joe Popkess at 144, and Steve Gardner Sr. third at 151.

Kathy Hartsell won the Senior Ladies flight with a 181, followed by Sue Simmons in second place with a 184.

In the Ladies Flight, it was Plainview Lady Indians golf standout Hallie Schultz winning with a 151, followed by Lindyn Ross and Schultz’s Lady Indians teammate D.A. Smith tying for second at 161. 

Todd Garner won the Lakeview Flight with a 162, followed by John Blackburn at 164. Lewis Eades was third at 166.

Steve Hubbard won the Sr. Presidents division with a 151, with Don Smith second overall at 152. Tim Rhodes Sr. was third at 162. 

In the Senior Vice Presidents flight, Jim Avery won with a 157, followed by Randy Archer with a 159, and Tony Johnston Sr. and Tim Dougan tying for third at 161.

Mike Coffman and Nate Hobein were the closest to the pin on hole No. 3 for the tournament, while Cliff Davis and Brian Bishop were the winners on the sixth hole.

Rick Mason and Tony Johnston Sr. were the closest to the pin on the 11th hole, with Coffman and Randy Archer the closest on the 16th hole. 

At the More Foundation golf fundraiser in the morning flight, it was the team of Nathan Thomas, Brandon Twyford, Kenny Lamb and Jason Meece winning first.

Matt Holland, Justin Bedeck, Jesse Rigney, and Sammye Fletcher claimed second overall.

Dave Richard, Sarah Lewis, Daniel Leangro, and Lyndsi Cutin earned third overall.

In the afternoon flight, Arthur Farve, Larry Darter, Lane Plauche, and Mike Kuepker won first.

Marc Peters, Vicki Peters, Steve Ross and Charles Reeves earned second overall.

Mike Brady, Ron Tyson, Kathy Willingham, and Bill Don Brady earned third overall.
