A 47-year-old Kansas man and a 17-year-old Texas boy were pronounced dead on the scene Tuesday after being struck by oncoming traffic while attempting to fix a flat tire on Interstate 35 near mile marker 52 in Davis, according to reports.
A vehicle driven by Rasika Walton, of Killeen, Texas, experienced a tire blowout while traveling northbound on I-35.
Shane Miller, of Hutchinson, Kansas, pulled over to assist Walton. According to reports, both vehicles were partially blocking the inside northbound lane.
Reports show that Miller and an unidentified juvenile were partially standing in the roadway attempting to fix the flat tire when a third vehicle, driven by Judy Blain, of Weatherford, Texas, struck Miller and the teen. Both were thrown an unknown distance from the point of impact. Both were pronounced dead on the scene.
Blain was admitted to Arbuckle Memorial Hospital in Sulphur with an arm injury before being released. A second unnamed teen was also injured on the collision.
The cause of the collision and the conditions of all involved are still under investigation.
