When it comes to amateur tournaments in Oklahoma, there’s none bigger than the Oklahoma Golf Association State Amateur tournament.

Recently at the Lincoln Park West Golf Course in Oklahoma City and the Bailey Ranch Golf Course in Owasso, several local amateur golfers punched their ticket to the OSA Match Play finals which will begin on July 17 until July 19 at the Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa.

Healdton’s Bryce Newton managed to qualify for the field, tying for seventh overall in the opening round.

Representing Ardmore was Dillon Jordan, who finished tied for 14th, Carson Seals, who was tied for 18th, and Plainview High School golfer Tyler Neher, who also finished tied for 18th.

Doug Hargis Jr. also represented Ardmore at the Bailey Ranch qualifying round, but failed to qualify for the match play bracket.

Jordan will be the only local player in the upper half of the match play bracket, as he will take on Walker Henson from Enid in the opening round at 9:31 a.m. on July 17. The winner will advance to play later in the day against either Drew Dorsey or Cole Gvekeler.

Newton will take on Chris Laughlin from Edmond in his opening round match at 8:14 a.m., with the winner facing either McCain Schellhardt or Dylan Lynch.

Seals’ opponent will be Scott Willman from Tulsa at 8:49 a.m.

Neher will play at 9:03 a.m. against Mitchell Ross from Norman, with Scott Newell or Christopher Noel.
