Ardmore police received a call reporting a body found in a creek on 2nd Ave SE around 1:40 p.m. Thursday.
Police said neighborhood kids were playing in the creek when they stumbled on the body. The children then alerted their parents who alerted police, said Sgt. Brice Woolly, Ardmore Police Investigator heading up the investigation.
"It looks like it has been here for some time," Woolly said. "We will investigate it as foul play until we know different."
Woolly added that designating the investigation as foul play is standard procedure in any situation like this.
Police were unable to determine the person's identity or gender.
The body was taken to the medical examiner’s office around 5 p.m. as police packed up the scene.
The Ardmoreite will have updates to this story as they are available.
