MADILL — A Kingston man was injured after the semi-truck he was driving overturned in Madill Tuesday afternoon, said Donny Raley, public relations officer for Madill Police Department.
Police responded to the scene around 3 p.m. Charles Dewayne Mims, 48, was driving the semi on State Highway 70 when he attempted to make the sharp left turn to continue on Hwy 70 West and flipped over the truck, police said.
Mims was assessed by medics on scene who transported him to AllianceHealth in Madill with head trauma, Raley said. From there he was transported by helicopter to Medical Center of Plano, in Plano, Texas. His condition is unknown.
The truck was carrying petroleum crude oil. Police said none of the oil leaked onto the highway, but the intersection of Hwy 70 and Hwy 177 remained closed as crews worked to pump the oil into a different semi truck.
Raley said the scene is “still being investigated, but speed appears to be involved.”
