DAVIS — A Texas man drowned Wednesday morning while swimming at Turner Falls, according to Davis Police.
Davis Police received a call regarding a man who went missing while swimming at the falls around 2:29 a.m.
Orlando Guerrero, 34, of Hurst, Texas, was found in the pool after rescue crews searched nearby  trails, the pool and other areas of the park. Guerrero’s body was located at 4:10 a.m. in 10 feet of water by police and fire personnel.
Emergency Medical Services staff made efforts to revive him but were unsuccessful.
Guerrero was camping in the park with friends and family. At the time of the incident the falls swimming area was closed.
Police said Guerrero entered the swimming area on the west side, where there is a sharp 10- foot drop off under the water that he may not have been aware of. Police also said they did not think Guerrero was intoxicated at the time of the incident.
“The main thing people have to realize is, that is a live creek,” Davis Police Chief Danny Cooper said. “It does have a current and it’s a natural swimming area without a level bottom. We just want everyone to be aware of their surroundings and abilities.”
