Throughout the history of time, there have been many classic combinations which have just gone together naturally.

Some which come to mind could be peanut butter and jelly, biscuits and gravy, muscle cars and powerful engines.

The same chemistry could also be used to describe the relationship of Ardmore Lady Tigers Lexi Duff and Madisen Moore. After all, they are the starting pitcher and catcher for AHS.

Having been teammates all throughout their softball careers in the Ardmore school system, the two have not only formed a bond as teammates, but a chemistry as friends off the field which fuels the way they are able to communicate during games.

“Lexi and Madisen have been pitching and catching for each other since their seventh grade year,” Ardmore coach Charli Crawford said. “They know each other inside and out as teammates. They have experienced everything together through their journey in school ball. Having them behind the plate and on the mound is one of our biggest strengths as a team.”

Last season, the Lady Tigers duo certainly made life difficult for opposing batters at the plate. In total Duff went 23-11 on the year with a 1.02 ERA.

She struck out 276 batters in 173 innings pitched. She would later be named as the All-Ardmoreite Pitcher of the Year.

“Tournament ball and school ball really can get your arm sore before a season,” Duff said. “I feel great though. When I first moved here, then I clung to my softball teammates. Madisen knows before I release the ball where it’s going to go.”

“We have so much trust between us that it makes everything work out on the field.”

“Behind every pitcher is a great catcher, and that’s something to live by,” Duff added. “Catchers don’t get enough credit out there. She makes me look really good on the mound every single game.”

“Lexi is very consistent on the mound and is always doing what she needs to do out there,” Moore said. “Usually when we have a conference on the mound, we’re mostly laughing and smiling. It’s crazy how good we are together and just to see the chemistry we have. Getting to get the last out with her at regionals and to advance to state would mean everything to me.”
