MARIETTA— Services for Nathan Shane Hurst, 19, of Marietta, Okla., are set for 2  p.m. Monday, July 24, 2017, in Marietta’s First Baptist Church with Rev. Ryan Eakins officiating, assisted by Rev. Steve Carroll. Interment in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, will be under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Marietta.
Nathan was born December 19, 1997 in Ada, Okla., the son of Barry Hurst and Misty Cox Hurst. He passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2017, near Marietta.
A 2016 graduate of Turner High School, Nathan attended college and was an employee in Facility Services at WinStar at the time of his death. While a student at Turner, he played basketball and baseball, was a member of the 4-H Club, was also active in FCA and Beta Club, and served as chaplain of the FFA Chapter. Nathan, a very happy individual who was always smiling, loved the Lord and was anxious to witness that love with others. He also enjoyed visiting with family and friends and spending time with his fiancée, Nathan was also proud of his Native American heritage, being 1/8 Mississippi Choctaw. His hobbies included fishing and camping.
Preceding him in death were his maternal grandmother, Linda Newton; maternal great-grandparents, Mary and Gene Hammons and Faye Cox; and paternal great-grandparents, Buddy and Velda Hurst.
Survivors include his mother, Misty Hurst of Marietta; father and stepmother, Barry and Amber Hurst, also of Marietta; fiancée, Aspen George of Dickson, Okla.; brother, Ryan Hurst of Marietta; sister, Laura Beth Hurst of Marietta; two stepsisters, Tamra Simpson of Marietta and Alex Brightman of The Colony, Texas; paternal grandparents, Don and Corenia Hurst of Marietta; maternal grandparents, Stan and LaDanna Cox of Marietta; uncles and aunts, Brandon Cox of Shawnee, Donnie and Rena Hurst of Marietta, and Diane and Billy Eades of Ardmore, Okla.; and numerous great uncles and aunts.
Serving as casket bearers will be Crook Burton, Blake Addison, Clinton Stephens, Chris Mosley, Dillon Cox, and Alex Manning. Honorary bearers are Jack Drennan, Rev. Ronnie Carroll, Rev. Steve Carroll, Autumn Gooch, and Tyler Scott. Time of visitation for family and friends will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
