SPCO William Duke Sweet of Ardmore was born on Aug. 19, 1962 in Georgetown, Ohio to Duke Sweet and Eileen (Minton) Sweet. He passed from this life on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at his home in Ardmore at the age of 54 years.
Mr. Sweet moved to Oklahoma from Russellville, Ohio in October of 2016 where he lived the remainder of his life. William attended school at Eastern Brown High School in Russellville, Ohio and in 1979, at age 17, he joined the United States Navy where he served his country as a Senior Chief with pride for 25 years. Some of the many places that William was stationed were California, Virginia, and Guam. William met and married Donna Baker in Imperial Beach, Calif. on July 09, 1988. Donna stood by his side through trials and tribulations.
William loved to fish, play harmonica, play guitar, play with his dogs, and he loved to gamble. He had a great sense of humor and could make anyone laugh and would do anything for anyone.
William leaves behind to cherish his memory wife, Donna (Baker) Sweet of the home; daughters: Jazzmin Sweet of Cincinnati, Christina Sweet of Medford, Ore., and Barbara Ann Baker of Davis, Okla.; son-in-law, Robert Monroe of Calif.; sister, Valerie Lytle of Russellville, Ohio; brothers, Dennis Sweet and Jim Griffith, both of Russellville, Ohio; brother-in-laws, Roger Baker of Ardmore. And Gary Lytle of Russellville, Ohio; father-in-law, Ralph “Ralphie Boy” Baker of Ardmore; mother-in-law, Julie Baker of Ardmore; grandson, Robert Scott Monroe, of Calif.; nieces, Becky Baker of Ardmore, and Summer Sweet of Russellville, Ohio. William is also survived by his loving dogs, Harley “Peekaboo” Sweet and Peanut Sweet.
William was preceded in death by both parents; brother, Carl Sweet; brother-in-law, Scott Baker; and granddaughter, Sadie Annette.  
Memorial services with full military honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 22 at The Johnston County War Memorial in Tishomingo. The Reverend Roger Hartwell will officiate the services. Services are being held under the direction and care of Tishomingo Funeral Home.
