Memorial services for Walter McAnally will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Alton Fannin officiating. James Walter McAnally was born August 14, 1928, to Mattie Elizabeth (Tipton) and James Walter McAnally in Burneyville, Okla., a community that always had a special place in his heart. He passed from this life on July 22, 2017, at the age of 88 years and 11 months.
At an early age he accepted Christ as his Savior and continued to put faith as the main priority in his life.
On November 20, 1946, he and Betty Sue Lowe were married in the First Methodist parsonage in Marietta, Okla. by Reverend R.J. Graham. They farmed and ranched in Love County until 1950 when they moved to Ardmore and he went to work for Ardmore Plumbing Supply. He began his career at Ardmore Plumbing in 1950 after riding the bus from Marietta to Ardmore for his job interview. He continued in the business and rose from general warehouse receiving to co-owner and eventually to owner and was still actively involved in the business on a daily basis until approximately six weeks ago. Walter loved to interact and visit with his customers and became the face of Ardmore Plumbing. The business became a family affair when son, Phil, daughter, Pam, grandson, Matt and daughter-in-law, Sharon, all eventually joined the business. He was pleased to have been named Ardmore Small Business of the Year in 2008 and took special delight in the fact that there were three generations working together daily. Walter’s legacy will continue.
Walter was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Ardmore for over 65 years, where he had the privilege of teaching Youth Sunday School classes, serving on numerous committees, and being an usher and an ordained deacon.
He was preceded in death by his wife of seventy years, Sue, on March 28, 2017, his parents James Walter and Mattie McAnally, infant brother, Harry Edward, and great grandson, Jacob Ryan Hedger.
He is survived by his daughter, Pam McAnally; son, Phil McAnally and his wife Sharon; two granddaughters Leah Ann Hedger and her husband Zane and Betsy Rae Brunk and her husband Ryan; grandson Matthew James McAnally and his wife Kash; great-grandchildren Sam Hedger, Ryan Hedger, Dane Dickerson, Grayson Brunk, Max McAnally and Mya McAnally; sister Dora Jane Taliaferro and husband Bill, brother Tom McAnally and wife Charlotte; special friends and caregivers Kim Wright and Denise Taulton.
Honorary pallbearers are Matt McAnally, Zane Hedger, Ryan Brunk, Dr. Garland Clay, Dr. Brook Edmonds. Emmett Hudgins, John DeHart, Alan Vernon and Pat Vernon.
Special appreciation and thanks to all those in the Plumbing and Construction Industry that we have had the privilege and blessing of working with and serving these many years.
Visitation will be 6  p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, at Craddock Funeral Home. A private, family burial will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
