The Lone Grove Lady Horns decided to send a message instead Monday afternoon.

A road trip to Lexington provided little opposition for LGHS as a five-run fourth inning and a six run sixth inning propelled the Lady Horns to a 12-0 run rule victory in six innings.

Sami Skelly registered her first RBI as a Lone Grove player in the top of the first inning when she scored Brooklyn Mason off an RBI single.

Lone Grove would be held silent offensively for the next couple of innings, but made up for it in the top of the fourth.

Abby Atkinson made it 2-0 with a sacrifice fly RBI, before Skelly struck again, this time with a three-RBI triple to center field, putting the Lady Horns up 5-0.

Skelly would score on the next batter as Taleigh Nail sent a line drive to center field adding to the Lady Horns advantage.

Just to add the cherry on top of an already stellar opening day performance, Skelly smashed her first home run of the season in the top of the sixth, a two-run shot to right field, putting LGHS up 8-0.

Logan Graves made it 9-0 with an RBI double to center field, which scored Nail.

Nova Dodson scored on a throwing error to make it 10-0, before Emily Burns also scored courtesy of a throwing error to make it 11-0.

Jordan Johnson finished the scoring off for the Lady Horns when she also scored off an error.

Emmy Guthrie got the win on the mound for Lone Grove, throwing six innings of work. She allowed just three hits with one walk while registering 14 strikeouts.

Lone Grove will be at home this afternoon opening district play in a double-header against the Madill Lady Wildcats. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
