Memorial services for Earlene Doris Flint Savage of Marietta are set for 12 p.m., Saturday, August 12, 2017 in the Calvary Christian Fellowship, 2201 4th N.W. – Ardmore. Officiating will be the Rev. Brad Houchin.
Earlene was born August 17, 1930, in Llano, Texas, the daughter of James Newell Flint and Grace Annie Jung Flint. She passed away Thursday, July 13, in Medical City Denton, Denton, Texas, at the age of 86. Earlene and George “Doc” Savage were married May 16, 1953, in Madill, and they had made their home in Love County since 1974. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Earlene loved family gatherings and especially being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her own family, she was also “mother” to many other children. Earlene also enjoyed flower gardening and decorating for Christmas, but most of all she delighted in “aggravating.” She was of the Baptist faith. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband of 43 years, George “Doc” Savage; step-daughter, Cindy Houchin; four brothers, Elmo, J.N., James, Jr., and her twin, Earl; and sister, Dorothy Cox.
She is survived by three sons, Jim Savage and wife, Susan of Loyal, Okla.; Ronnie Savage and wife, Lea Ann of Marietta; and Larry Savage and wife, Nancy of Graham, Okla.; daughter, Peggy Denny and husband Ben, also of Marietta; sister-in-law, Jeri Flint of Madill; 12 grandchildren: Shannon and Karla Houchin, Brad and Brandii Houchin, Jeff and Linda Houchin, Rae Lynn and Frank Duffy, Amber Russell, Christie and Jamie Westbrooke, Cady and James Ingram, Shana and Eric Sessions, Tommy and Stefanie Savage, Billy Dale Savage, Kylene and Ryan Tucker, and Ben and Katisha Denny; 34 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
