Emmett Sheridan Kinkade was born at sunrise August 7, 1933, in Ponca City, Okla. and passed away the night of July 30, 2017, in Neuchatel, Switzerland at the age of 83.
He was the son of Carl Sheridan Kinkade and Lueina Inez Kinkade of Ardmore. He is survived by his wife Catherine Kinkade of Cressier, Switzerland; daughter, Marcia Ann McBride McGee, of Bellingham, Wash.; son, Sheridan Brendan Kinkade of West Hills, Calif.; daughter, Amelia Eileen Kinkade, of Los Angeles and Johannesburg, South Africa; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Carolyn Willis, Zara Woerner, and Effie Jones.
He was preceded in death by a son, Andrew Sean Kinkade, of Powell, Wyo.; his brother, William Willis Kinkade; and his parents.
At an early age, Sheridan moved with his parents from Ponca City to Ardmore where he completed his primary and secondary schooling. He then joined the U.S. Army and served in Germany. He returned to the United States and married his first wife, Melinda McClanahan, also of Ardmore. He had a long distinguished professional career in aerospace tool design. In 1998 he moved with his second wife Catherine to Switzerland, her homeland, where they lived until his death.
A private memorial was held at the family home.
He was known for his beautiful tenor voice, his remarkable artistic talent as a portrait painter and sculptor, and his amazing mechanical and engineering genius. He and Catherine took great enjoyment in building high-performance airplanes and flying aerobatics. He also took delight in tending to his rose garden. His intelligence, talents, and unique perspective on life are legendary among his family and friends.
