Following a less than stellar opening to the season last Tuesday, the Ardmore Lady Tigers found a much better atmosphere this weekend in Shawnee.

Three victories and a narrow one-run defeat came from AHS’ journey to the Chisholm Trail Classic, leaving the Lady Tigers with a 3-2 mark overall on the season.

Ardmore will be back in action Tuesday evening taking on Duncan in the district opener, with first pitch set for 6:30 p.m. from the Ardmore softball field.

“These girls went out and had a great tournament,” Ardmore coach Charli Crawford said. “I’m looking forward to seeing more performances like these this season. It’s exciting to see this so early in the season.”

It was deuces wild in the opening game of the tournament, as senior Lexi Duff tossed a two-hit shutout, while her teammates scored two runs to defeat the Dale junior varsity squad.

Madisen Moore gave the Lady Tigers a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when her RBI bunt single scored Chole Pender. 

Pender would later score again courtesy of a sacrifice fly RBI from Lauren Blankenship. 

Duff threw five innings of work, striking out six batters and walking just four.
