Funeral services for Phyllis Chesser Erwin, age 84, of Ardmore will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2017, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 120 Veterans Boulevard, Ardmore, with the Rev. Donnie Custar officiating.  Burial will follow at 3:30 p.m. in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick, Okla. Mrs. Erwin passed away on Friday, Aug. 11, 2017, in an Oklahoma City hospital.

Phyllis Rhea (Lowe) Chesser Erwin was born on June 26, 1933, in Davidson, Okla. to George Dewey and Pearl (Wright) Lowe. She attended Davidson Public Schools through the 9th grade and then transferred to Frederick High School, where she graduated in 1951. She was united in marriage to A. J. Chesser on Nov. 30, 1951, in Frederick. He preceded her in death on May 19, 1989. She worked at various jobs in the community for many years. On Feb. 1, 1997, she married Virgil Erwin in Frederick. He preceded her in death on March 23, 2003. While living in Frederick, she was a member of Tesca Baptist Church and Bethel Baptist Church. She was currently a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Ardmore.

She is survived by two daughters, Pamala Chesser of Ardmore, and Belinda Schwertfeger and her husband, Galen, of Kalamazoo, Mich.; one sister, Jennie Yates and her husband, Bill, of Fort Worth, Texas; one step-sister, Dee Fondren Chesser and her husband, Leon, of Fort Worth; three grandchildren, James Cody Dill of Tulsa, Arrianne Carder and her husband, Stoney, of Broken Arrow, and Alexandra Howard and her husband, Thomas, of Kalamazoo, Mich.; and six great-grandchildren, Grant, Morgan, Paige, Grayson and Olivia Howard, and Devin Reece.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both of her husbands; one daughter, YoLanda Chesser Dill; one great-grandson, Riley Howard; and one brother, Edward T. Lowe.
