Wendyl Eugene Owen, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2017, in Ardmore. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 19, 2017, in The Chapel at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home with private interment in Greenville Cemetery, Greenville, Okla., with the Reverend Jim Duck officiating.
Wendyl was born on September 30, 1940, to Emmit C. Owen and Marie (Lynch) Owen in Ada, Okla. He attended Ada and Ardmore schools and enlisted in the United States Army National Guard. After serving nine years he was honorably discharged. In 1971, he moved to Ardmore, after living in Denver. Wendyl worked as a radio and television repairman for Pruitt and then for Ralph’s TV and later for JC Yeatt’s Furniture. After his retirement, he loved to go fishing and enjoyed telling his stories of the fish he caught. He will be remembered for his ability to cook. Wendyl loved to spend time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna Jo-Ann Fox; three infant grandchildren; and one infant sister.
Wendyl is survived by his four daughters, Barbara Annette Owen-Vaughn of Lone Grove, Bonnie Fox and husband, Lyle of Marietta, Janet Wallace and husband, Mike of Ardmore, and Judith Baugh and husband, Scott of Davis; thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, John Emmit Owen and wife, Mary of Madill; and numerous other family members.
