With temperatures rising and the sun setting Friday night, conditions were perfect for Ardmore Tigers football.

Fans young and old alike got their first look at the 2017-18 Tigers squad, as they scrimmaged against the Noble High School Bears from Noble Stadium.

Ardmore’s offense had little trouble moving the ball as the Tigers scored three touchdowns on the evening, as compared to just one scored by the Bears.

Teri Roberts and Nathan Taylor both took reps under center for Ardmore, as Joseph Clark, Jadrein Monroe and Cameron Pettis ran roughshod over the Bears defense.

Speaking of defense, AHS wasn’t in the mood to give up much, as the Tigers stuffed NHS’ running attack and stifled their passing game as well most of the evening.

“I liked our effort out there, and the way we were trying to be physical,” Ardmore coach Josh Newby said. “But, when you get right down to it, we still have a long way to go. Our kids have the ‘Want To’ and are willing to improve. I’ve very encouraged by that.”

“Our kids were coming off the ball really hard,” Newby added. “But, there are some finer points of the game which we need to improve on. The season is going to be on top of us very quickly, and we need to be ready for it.”

Ardmore will open the regular season on Sept. 1 at Ada.
