PLAINVIEW — If district 3-4A was a poker table, right now it could be said the Lone Grove Lady Horns are playing with house money.

In contrast, the Plainview Lady Indians are losing chips fast.

Friday afternoon, LGHS staked their claim in the district title race, as Emmy Guthrie threw a perfect game, and the Lady Horns rolled over the Lady Indians 21-0 in five innings.

Four runs in the first inning set the tone as Taleigh Nail (2) Guthrie, and Nova Dodson all registered RBI hits in the frame.

Shelby Stevenson made it 5-0 in the second with a sacrifice fly RBI, before Sami Skelly scored following an error on a ground ball hit by Guthrie.

Six more runs in the third inning put the game well out of reach for the Lady Horns.

Brooklyn Mason made it 7-0 with an RBI bunt single, before Jordan Johnson was allowed to score following an error off a pop fly hit by Maci McMurtrey.

Nail made it 10-0 with another two-RBI hit, this one a double to left field.

Stevenson registered a fielder’s choice RBI, before Guthrie hit a sacrifice fly RBI to finish off the inning.

Mcmurtry, Nail, Stevenson, Logan Graves, Johnson, Katelynn Cobb and Noa Dodson all registered RBI hits in the fourth inning.

Emily Burns finished the scoring off in the fifth when her ground ball resulted in an error allowing Jayden Furr to score.

Guthrie finished with nine strikeouts in the game for Lone Grove in five innings of work.

Britney Dunlap took the loss for Plainview, allowing 15 earned runs on 21 hits with five walks.

With the win, Lone Grove improved to 6-2 overall and 3-0 in district play. Plainview falls to 8-4 overall and 0-3 in district play.

These two teams will meet up again on Monday from Lone Grove with first pitch set for 5 p.m.
