William Robert “Billy” Bright, 59, passed away peacefully at his residence, surrounded by his family on August 13, 2017. William was born September 4, 1957, in Portsmouth, Va. Billy attended school at Charles Evans and Ardmore High School. He joined the U.S. Navy June 1, 1979, and was honorably discharged April 22, 1986. During his tours, he served on the U.S.S. Dwight D. Eisenhower, Ethan Allen and Independence before being stationed at Kingsville, Texas, after his sea duty.
Billy married Barbara Ann Koontz on September 11, 1992, in Gainesville, Texas. He worked for Mercy Hospital as a medical equipment manager before joining Michelin Tire Company in 1999.
He enjoyed riding his Harley and sharing about Jesus. He was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association and the Patriot Guard Riders. He was member of Fusion First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; and his children, Nathan Bright and wife, Madalyn, Kayla Stewart and husband, Seth, Amanda Bright, Robbie Bright and Michael Martin; his siblings, Ricky Bright and wife, Jimmie, Daniel Lee Marvel, Anthony Richard Marvel and Michelle Marie Harris; his father, Paul Wroten; and grandchildren, Jackson, Annabelle, Owen and Benson. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother Frances Kay Lamb Wroten; stepfather, Buddy Bright; grandmother, Dovie Bright; uncle, Sonny Bright; and brother, Raymond Bright.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 26, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Fusion First Baptist Church with the Reverend Todd Davison officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the US Naval Honor Guard.
