There’s no better way to celebrate a top-20 ranking than with a victory.

Monday afternoon the newly ranked No. 19 Davis Lady Wolves showed they were more than worthy of their place in Class 3A’s elite with a 17-1 thrashing of Wynnewood on the road.

Sydney Martin got Davis on the board in the top of the first when she scored on an error.

Riley Webber then got the second inning started with a bang as she smacked a two-RBI double to right, before Sydney Martin collected another RBI hit with a line drive to left field.

Gracie Eggleston finished off the second with an RBI single to center.

Brinlee Dulaney played a massive part for Davis in the fourth as her fly ball resulted in an error, allowing Sydney Martin to score. Dulaney would later score on a steal of home.

Eggleston would also score in the inning on a passed ball.

Wynnewood got on the board with a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the fifth.

It wasn’t until the seventh that the Lady Wolves exploded offensively.

First a bases loaded walk drawn by Lynsey Martin scored Webber, before Eggleston made it 10-1 with an RBI single.

Dulaney drew yet another bases loaded walk, scoring Sydney Martin, as Lauren Son then slapped an RBI single off a hard ground ball.

Eggleston would later score on a steal of home, before Alexis Ball hit a fielder’s choice RBI to make it 14-1.

Hannah Koch and Sydney Martin combined to finish off the scoring for Davis, with each hitting an RBI base hit.

Lauren Son got the win in the circle for the Lady Wolves, throwing a complete game effort. She allowed 1 run (0 earned) on three hits with five walks and 14 strikeouts.
