ARDMORE — Memorial services for Jean “Poin” Evans will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 26, 2017, in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home and Crematory.
Jean was born September 26, 1922, to the late John and Mary Beth Poindexter in Ardmore. She was a graduate of Ardmore High School, the class of 1940. She met and fell in love with Ebber Lee Evans; they were married on June 8, 1947. The parents of three children, Eberle, Mary Teece and Charles, she and E.L. enjoyed fifty-eight years of marriage. After retiring from the Ardmore Blood Bank, Jean and Ebber loved taking trips, especially to Colorado and Mexico, where they enjoyed fishing. Jean also enjoyed playing bridge and was a faithful Wheel of Fortune fan.
Following a period of failing health, Jean passed away Monday, August 21, 2017, at an Ardmore nursing home.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, E. L.; and a daughter, Eberle. Survivors include her children, Mary Teece Holloway and husband, Jim, and Charles Evans all of Ardmore; her sister, Pat Pittman, of Maryville, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Handicapping Improvements Fund at First Presbyterian Church of Ardmore, or Cross Timbers Hospice, 207 C St NW, Ardmore.
