An Ardmore man in Marietta led troopers and deputies on a chase through Love County that ended in his death.
An Oklahoma Parks unit responded to a call regarding a naked and intoxicated man at the Marietta Landing boat ramp Sunday. The man was allegedly filming and using obscenities in front of children, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.
The Parks unit spotted the suspect, Kellen J. Kyle, 32, of Ardmore, leaving in a maroon SUV.
Kyle attempted to flee, and Love County deputies and OHP Troopers joined the pursuit on State Highway 77 South. During the chase, a deputy deployed spikes into the road which punctured Kyle’s tire.
According to an OHP report, the pursuit continued until Kyle stopped in the middle of the highway, just one mile north of SH 32.
The combined law enforcement agencies tried to negotiate with Kyle until he opened fire on the deputies and troopers, the report said. The combined agencies then began returning fire at Kyle, which resulted in him being shot.
Kyle was pronounced dead at the scene.
OHP said the incident is still currently under investigation.
