With district play comes a new sense of hope for area teams.

Dickson was hoping after a non-district schedule which brought the Comets its first win since 2015, the district portion of their schedule would begin with success.

Unfortunately, Seminole had other ideas, as the Chieftains dished out a 44-7 defeat to the Comets Friday night

Seminole raced out to a 22-0 lead before the Comets got on the board in the third quarter.

Dickson quarterback Thomas Johnson capped off a 54-yard scoring drive, carrying the ball 29-yards to cut down the lead to 22-7 in the third quarter.

But Seminole quickly squashed any thoughts at a comeback for the Comets, scoring 22 unanswered points to close out the game.

Thomas Johnson passed for 23 yards on 6-of-14 passing in addition to carrying the ball 10 times for 52 yards and a touchdown. Brandon Sullivan led the rushing attack for the Comets with 22 carries for 57 yards.

The loss dropped Dickson to (1-4) and (0-1) in district play.

Dickson will be hosting Madill Friday night at home in district play.
