WALLS Bargain Center in Tiffany Plaza announced a sudden closure via Facebook a week ago. But the news took Ardmore Development Services and City Manager J.D. Spohn by surprise.
On Sept. 17, the store posted the announcement after “very careful deliberation.” While WALLS was said to be offering a 25 percent discount off total purchases storewide, the post did not say exactly when the store intended to shut down.
Calls to WALLS Home Office and Processing Facility were unreturned Monday, and the doors were locked during normal business hours.
“We appreciate our valued shoppers that have shopped our location here and even prior to our moving into this location from across town,” the post said.
Spohn said he and Ardmore Development Services Director Jessica Scott knew nothing about the store’s closure, nor were they notified beforehand. On Tiffany Plaza, where WALLS sits, Spohn praised the venue as a great congregation for city commerce, despite stores such as Jimmy’s Western Wear moving out of the shopping center.
“It’s a great location, and I’m hoping that we don’t see business slow down,” Spohn said.
Nineteen Walls Bargain Centers and six Walls Warehouse Carpet and Flooring Stores are located in Oklahoma, Texas and Mississippi, according to WALLS website.
