Myrtle Williamson, 88, was born Nov. 21, 1928, in Springer, Okla., The daughter of Calvin and Letha (Kimble) Cohee. Passed away Thursday Oct. 5, 2017, in Ardmore, Okla.
A lifetime resident of Ardmore, Okla., she and Joseph Williamson, Sr. married in 1948, until his passing in 1966. A few years later she met Louis Stevenson who became her long-time companion. Myrtle worked for Memorial Hospital and was also a retired foster grandparent for several years.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Calvin and Letha Cohee, her husband Joseph Williamson, Sr. and longtime companion Louis Stevenson. Two sons Wendell “Chuckie” Williamson, and Baby Stevenson. Her brothers Melvin Cohee, Earnest Cohee, Raymond Cohee, Carl Cohee and Ralph Cohee; Sisters: Amanda Cohee, Stella Mae Cohee and Opal Cannady.
Myrtle is survived by her children: Maretha Gray, Gloria Pickens, Oretha “Jo” Williamson, Wardell Williamson, Sr., Mary Walker and Joseph Williamson and a special daughter Clevonna Jones. Grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of nephews and niece’s.
The Wake will be held at Kirk’s Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, from 5 to 7 p.m. and public viewing will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Service will be held at Trinity Baptist Church, Wednesday Oct. 11, 2017, at 1 p.m. under the direction of Grant & Owens Mortuary, Ardmore, Okla.
