The Lord released Stephen Paul Clouatre, 66, of his pain and suffering and called him home on Oct. 3, 2017. Services will be held at 11 a.m, Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, at The First Baptist Church, in Carrizozo with Pastor Hayden Smith officiating. Interment services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017, in Hillcrest Memorial Park with Military Honors.
Steve was born on March 28, 1951, in Cairo, Illinois. He was the son of Clement and Lucille Clouatre. Steve and Wanda Mays were married on Dec. 31, 2006. They lived in Carrizozo for several years and then moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, during Steve’s illness.
Steve served in the Navy, Special Forces Unit during the Vietnam War from 1969 through 1974. He enjoyed hinting and gold panning up in the Jicarilla Mountains of Lincoln County, New Mexico. He loved the mountains. Now he is on the highest mountain in Heaven looking down on us all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step-son, Garret Mays and brother, Kirk Clouatre.
Steve is survived by his wife, Wanda, daughter, Cheree Beck, son, John Paul Hill, brothers, Kent Clouatre, Clay Clouatre and eight grandchildren; Tyler, Amanda and Janie Rasmussen, Gabriel and Cynthia Beck, Alyssa, Jaden and Olivia Hill, and one grand-grandson, Bentley James.
