Homegoing services for Myrtle L. Williamson, 88, of Ardmore, are at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017 at Trinity Baptist Church. She was born Nov. 21, 1928, in Springer, the daughter of Calvin and Letha (Kimble) Cohee. She went to be with the Lord on Oct. 5, 2017.
A lifetime resident of Ardmore, she and Joseph Williamson Sr. married in 1948, and were wed until his passing in 1966. A few years later she met Louis Stevenson, a longtime devoted companion. Myrtle worked for Memorial Hospital, which is now Mercy Hospital and she was also a foster grandparent for several years at Will Rogers Elementary School.
She was preceded in death by her parents Calvin and Letha (Kimble) Cohee, her husband Joseph Williamson Sr. and her devoted companion Louis Stevenson, two sons, Wendell “Chuckie” Williamson, baby Stevenson; her brothers, Melvin, Earnest, Raymond, Ralph, and Carl Cohee; sisters, Amanda, Stella Mae and Opal (Cannady) Cohee.
She is survived by daughters, Maretha Gray (Tollie), Oklahoma City, Oretha “Jo” Williamson, Mary L. Walker (Robert), Gloria Pickens, all of Ardmore; sons, Wardell Williamson Sr. (Angel) and Joseph Williamson Jr. (Anna); special daughter, Clevonna Jones; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
The viewings will be held at Kirk’s Funeral Chapel today. Public viewing will be from noon to 5:00 p.m., wake services will be from 5 to 7 p.m.
