Carter County’s special election for area sales tax measures is today. County officials have urged citizens to consider the ramifications of eliminating that source of revenue.

Commissioners are seeking approval for the renewal of the one quarter of one percent sales tax toward technology equipment and classroom materials for all common school districts in the county, as well as the one quarter of one percent sales tax for county road and bridge maintenance.

Regular polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Citizens can look up their polling place, verify their registration information or view a sample ballot with the Online Voter Tool at www.elections.ok.gov.

State law requires each voter who votes in person at the precinct polling place to present proof of identity before being given a ballot. This may be done with a valid photo ID issued by federal, state or tribal government or with the free voter ID card issued to every voter.
