Longtime Southern Oklahoma entrepreneur, Jeffery Doyle Ratcliffe, 68, passed away Oct. 16, 2017, at the hospital in Madill, Oklahoma.  Jeff was born April 10, 1949, at McAllen, Texas.
He married his high school sweetheart, Linda Mae Ice at Cabool, Missouri, May 28, 1967.  They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary earlier this year.
Jeff began his career working for Firestone Tire and Rubber.  He advanced rapidly, becoming a manager to make company stores profitable. After being transferred to Ardmore, Jeff started Ratcliffe and Sons, Inc., a fuel distributorship. The business has been active since 1974.  Always an entrepreneur, to Jeff every new venture was a challenge, but he always made sure it succeeded. An enterprise that Jeff loved was raising cattle. He ran a small cow/calf operation in Madill, and always took pride in his cattle and the farm. His most recent business was Blackbeard Marine in Willis, Oklahoma. Making the decision to retire, he sold Blackbeard, which gave him more time to enjoy his family and friends.
Jeff and his two sons, Brian and Jonathan, earned their private pilot’s license within the same year.  He loved hunting and fishing with his grandchildren, children and friends. A lifetime member of the National Skeet Shooting Association and the Oklahoma Skeet Shooting Association, he and two close friends were instrumental in forming the Marshall County Youth Shooting Sports.  Jeff’s passion was helping kids.  Time and effort were his strong points and he used them to help coach and mentor over 50 kids, since the inception of the program.  He spent countless hours gathering funds from generous donors for the kids.
While living in Ardmore he served on the Board of Education of Plainview Schools and also on the board of directors of Landmark Bank.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Linda, of the home, two sons, Brian, and Jonathan, his wife, Kim, and his daughter, Mindy Beeby and her husband, Lain.  “Papaw Jeff” was especially proud of his nine grandchildren, Brooke, Micray, Jake, Hunter, Claire, Rhire, Brandt, Addie and Molly.
No one can fill the spot he left in our hearts. Love goes to his wonderful close friends, Joe, Logan, Jess, Travis, Glen and Steve.
Cremation was selected and a Memorial Celebration will be held at “The Farm”, on Saturday the 28th day of October, starting at 12:30 p.m.
The Ratcliffe family requests that in lieu of gifts and flowers, that donations be made to the Marshall County Youth Shooting Sports, PO Box 218, Madill, Oklahoma 73446.
Cremation-With-Care was entrusted to Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home and Crematory.  Condolences to the family may be sent online at www.hdouglasfuneralhome.com.
