SHAWNEE — There was plenty of local flavor to go around Saturday at the OSSAA state cross country championships in Shawnee in the Class 3A ranks.

SHAWNEE — There was plenty of local flavor to go around Saturday at the OSSAA state cross country championships in Shawnee in the Class 3A ranks.

For the Dickson Lady Comets, Lone Grove Lady Horns, and a pair of Davis Lady Wolves runners, the stage was set for them to showcase their best efforts, along with a boys runner from LGHS and Dickson.

The Lady Comets managed to claim a 12th place team finish with Meredith Hendry the top finisher for the Lady Comets with a time of 13:36.00. 

Lauren Hendry clocked in with a finish of 13:56.88, while Clary Donica finished with a time of 14:44.42.

Parker Garrett clocked in at 15:11.56 for the Lady Comets, while Landri McClure finished the race in 15:16.30. 

Sienna Young ran a time of 15:20.46, with Baylie Baker crossing the finish line with a time of 15:25.70.

As for the Lone Grove Lady Horns, they finished in 19th overall in the team standings with a point total of 410.

Cheyanne Davis led the way for LGHS with a time of 14:04.96, followed by Michelle Brooks with a finish of 14:42.70.

Maili Coe ran a time of 14:58.21, followed by Lydia Saavedra at 15:01.43.

Krystal McCollum clocked in at 16:50.69, with Gracie Ellis at 17:19.06, and Caley O’Hanlon at 17:35.14.

As for Davis Lady Wolves runners Grace Murphy and Jordan Brown, they managed to clock in with times of 14:40.18 and 15:02.01 in their debuts at the state cross country meet.

Meanwhile, Dickson Comets runner Caden Potter and Lone Grove’s own Ian Porter ran in the boys 3A race.

Potter managed to clock in with a time of 20:16.85, while Porter finished the race for LGHS with a time of 21:05.69.

Both Porter and Potter will be back next season for their respective teams as the Comets standout is a junior and Porter is only a freshman this year.
