Dennis Geary, 66, passed away Nov. 8, 2017, at home in Ardmore. A family ceremony and celebration of life will be held in Big Cedar, Okla.
Dennis was born in Fort Worth, Texas to Johnnie Francis and Alta Bernadine Keith Geary; the oldest of five children. He graduated high school from Castleberry ISD in 1970, where he was active in rodeo and president of the Rifle Club. He received his bachelor’s degree in wildlife management from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Okla., in 1976.
His entire life revolved around the outdoors and nature. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, guns and all outdoor activities. Dennis’ career included short tenures in Utah and Colorado wildlife agencies until returning to Oklahoma, where he worked for the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation in various positions. The majority of his time in Oklahoma was spent as the area manager of the Tishomingo Public Hunting Area and Waterfowl Unit. Dennis retired after 34 years of service in 2013.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Survivors: wife of 26 years, Billi Lamb Geary; son, Cameron Patrick Geary and wife Tabitha; two granddaughters, Reese and Addie Geary; brothers, Michael and John Geary; sisters, Kitty Ballard and Patty Palmer; and many other nephews, nieces, relatives and beloved friends.
