Surrounded by his loving family, Paul F. Rowley passed away at his Ardmore residence Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017 at the age of 81 years, 8 months and 6 days.
Son of the late Ernest and Dorothy (Fry) Rowley, Paul was born March 10, 1936 at Oklahoma City, Okla. He grew up there and was a graduate of Central High School, the class of 1954. He then began a career as a computer engineer with IBM that encompassed 37 years.
Paul and the former Jean Grooms were married Dec. 11, 1958 at Bethany, Okla; they would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary this year. The parents of five sons, Ed, George Ernie, Richard, Dan and Kevin Dale; Paul’s children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. The legacy of Paul’s kind spirit, passion for sports and zest for life will live on through them.
A member of the Linwood Methodist Church in Oklahoma City, Paul was a life member of the Ardmore Jaycees and proudly served his country eight years with the U. S. Marine Corps Reserves. He enjoyed participating with his sons in the Boy Scouts of America and to float the Illinois River with his family.
A tireless and selfless volunteer in the community, Paul taught swimming lessons at the YMCA and was a Volunteer Income Tax Assistant for many years. A proud supporter of Oklahoma State football, he watched the Dallas Cowboys and Oklahoma City Thunder basketball on TV.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Dale Rowley and by a granddaughter, Bethany Rowley.
Paul is survived by his wife, Jean of the home; four sons and their wives, Ed and DiAnna, Moore, Okla., George (Ernie) and Sandy, Ardmore, Richard and Djuana, Moore, Okla. and Dan and Vicky of Ardmore; also 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Cremation-With-Care was provided by Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home and Crematory. Private memorial services will be conducted at a later date.
