Two shoplifters who allegedly stole about $2,000 worth of merchandise Tuesday evening were eventually halted in Cooke County, police say.
Ardmore police chased Archie Haddock and Tiawiian Hogan after they allegedly shoplifted from stores located in the Shops of Ardmore shopping mall, said Ardmore Police Capt. Keith Ingle. He said the high-speed chase was terminated before the suspects crossed the border into Texas.
Cooke County Sheriff’s Department then continued pursuit and was able to apprehend the two suspects after using their vehicles to stop the suspect on Westbound Highway 82.
“We started pursuit, but terminated it. Texas officers attempted to stop the vehicle … and they crashed into them,” Ingle said. “The supervisor on duty decided to terminate (the pursuit).”
Haddock and Hogan were booked into Cooke County Jail in Gainesville, Texas. Ingle did not know their conditions following the collision, and Cooke County Sheriff’s Department could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
The Cooke County Jail’s website only had details for Haddock, 28, who resides in Texas. Haddock
faces potential charges for aggravated assault against a public servant, evading arrest with a previous conviction, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with an invalid license.
His bond amounts to $36,000 in total.
