Through two games this season, the Ardmore varsity basketball teams have found plenty of things to be thankful for, especially in the win column.

Thursday afternoon the No. 5 Lady Tigers and No. 3 Tigers traveled to Midwest City to take part in the first day of the Carl Albert Festival, as they took on Heritage Hall.

Things couldn’t have gone any better for the Lady Tigers as they opened with a 24-0 first quarter, which led to a 70-26 victory over the Lady Chargers.

Ardmore managed to outscore HH 18-13 before halftime to take a 42-13 advantage into the break.

It was more of the same in the third quarter as the Lady Tigers went on a 13-3 run, before closing out the contest with a 15-10 fourth quarter.

J’Sades Ainsworth led the scoring for Ardmore (2-0) with 24 points followed by Reagan McCurley with 12 points and Amaya Gordon with 10 points.

Ainsworth and Gordon both finished the game with a triple-double.

In the boys game the Tigers claimed their first victory over a ranked opponent this season, defeating the No. 5 Chargers 53-42.

In the first quarter, the Tigers managed to hold a slim 13-11 advantage.

However, the Chargers came back strong before halftime and took a 21-19 lead at the break.

Heritage Hall managed to keep its momentum going in the third quarter, keeping the Tigers at bay with a 15-13 run, which increased its lead to 36-32 going into the fourth.

Ultimately, it was an impressive 21-6 run by the Tigers in the fourth quarter, with Braeden Vance scoring eight of his 18 points in the fourth to help Ardmore (2-0) claim the victory.
