After falling to Millwood 84-40, the Plainview’s boys squad outlasted the Muldrow Bulldogs to take third place in the Southern Oklahoma Classic Saturday at the Plainview Activity Center.

Plainview got off to a hot start, opening up a 16-6 lead.

But with each lead the Indians built, the Bulldogs found a way to claw their way back and make it interesting.

The Bulldogs fought back in the second quarter to go into halftime down 30-29.

But in the third quarter it was all Plainview.

Plainview’s Cason Dillon hit a pull up three to start the third, kick starting a 22-6 run for the Indians. But just like in the second quarter, the Bulldogs chipped away to make things interesting in the fourth.

In the fourth quarter, Plainview extended their lead to 19 points after Dillon convereted an and-one after a breakaway layup in traffic.

But from that point on Muldrow chipped away, reducing the Plainview lead to 64-60 with 1:26 remaining in the contest.

Just as things looked to be getting very interesting down the stretch, a double technical on Muldrow gave the Indians four shots from the free throw line and the possession.

After Plainview’s Blake Nowell and Dillon knocked down the clutch free throws, the Indians pulled away to win 71-63.

Blake Nowell and Dillon racked up 21 points a piece to lead the Indians in scoring.

Taylon Chambers scored nine and hit four consecutive free throws down the stretch to seal the win.
